Inspire Impact Evaluation Project

Finding out how the Inspire programs in the Northwest Territories, Yukon and Nunavut have impacted local young people.

About the project

For this project, we’re working closely with Small Economy Works (SEW) to develop an understanding of the success and opportunities with their Inspire NWT, Inspire Yukon and Inspire Nunavut programs.

SEW’s flagship “Inspire” Program is currently being delivered in Nunavut, the Northwest Territories and the Yukon. The program is helping young people start their own businesses, find gainful employment or take advantage of further education opportunities. SEW has delivered more than 25 Inspire training programs across the territories.

What is Impact Evaluation?
An impact evaluation is a process to gather information about the observed changes or impacts of something so that its benefits can be understood and it can be improved or expanded.

Evaluation is an important part of community work and entrepreneurship – checking to see what is working and what isn’t and adjusting to make improvements. Often, with community programs like Inspire, evaluation projects like this one help to ensure ongoing funding.

We were honoured to hear from a large number of Inspire participants, stakeholders and community members about how much this program has helped them. We heard from participants who filled out a survey, participated in a discussion group, and who shared their stories directly with us.

Background

As part of its funding requirements, the Inspire programs are being evaluated by an external consultant to see how well the programs are performing and what impact they are having on engaged participants.

The consultant is Ivy + Dean Consulting (i+d), located in Yellowknife, NT and Regina, SK. i+d is a company designed specifically to help small and medium-sized non-profits achieve their goals.

If you have any questions about the impact evaluation, please reach out to i+d directly by email to info@ivydeanconsulting.ca or by phone to (867) 676-0001.
